An FMCG company based in Johannesburg is looking for a Temp Laboratory Manager for 6 months to join their team. The successful candidate must possess the requirements listed below:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to the following:

• Responsible for product testing and assessment; including chemical; organoleptic and microbiological analysis.
• Supervision of the analysis, recording and communication of all laboratory records.
• Liaison and communication with suppliers and customer representatives.
• Provide regular reports and trend analyses
• Communicate cleaning results with the Head of Technical, the Junior Technical Manager, Production Team Leaders and Managers and agree on corrective actions.
• Ensure that Standards of hygiene are monitored throughout the plant through analysis, reporting and communication of microbial test results.
• Ensure all corrective maintenance is made and maintained on the Laboratory Quality System.
• Maintain good Laboratory practices, by ensuring that all documentation follows the requirements of the CLAS Standard, and that all jobs undertaken in the laboratory are to this standard
• Investigation of complaints against the laboratory, and their control / implementation of any corrective actions required.
• Carrying out microbiological, chemical and organoleptic analysis of all products to include raw material, work in progress, and finished product, to internal and customer requirements.
• Ensuring, in conjunction with the Junior Technical Manager, that the department has adequate resources, budget and skills to perform its duties.
• Supervision and day-to-day running of laboratory activities.
• Correspondence and communication with outside bodies as appropriate, to deal with queries and maintain up- to- date knowledge of microbiological issues.
• Coordinating and documenting monthly reports on laboratory issues.
• Investigating, replying, analysing and communicating on customer complaints.
• Training of staff as appropriate to their duties including health and safety.



FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• B Degree or equivalent

• At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role
• Ability to lead and direct the Laboratory team
• Excellent MS Office applications
