LEAD ENGINEER (FIXED TERM CONTRACT 3 YEARS)

The manager engineer leads projects through the development and implementation stages to ensure the project objectives and value are defined and delivered. Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
• Overseeing the design and construction of certain works plant and work with the Engineering, Procurement and Contract Management (EPCM) and contractors to make sure that the works are carried out in accordance with the schedule and budget, and completed safely and responsibly in terms with the HSE standards and policies.
• Providing leadership in HSEC by anticipating current and future risks and managing these.
• Leading defined projects through the full project life-cycle.
• Fostering a culture of continuous improvement and apply best practice.
• Providing engineering and technical support to Project Construction teams as required.
• Providing project management expertise for the successful completion of projects.
• Managing technical consultants and contractors in accordance with Contract Management Systems and contract law.
• Liaising with statutory and other authority representatives as required ensuring compliance with relevant statutory and legislative provisions.

Qualifications & Experience
• B.Sc. in Mining Engineering or Tertiary qualification in project management
• Government Certification of Competency (GCC) as legal appointee
• Preferable in procession of Professional Registration with Engineering Council of South Africa – ECSA
• Management of construction consultants, contractors and contracts
• Ability to relate to a varied group of people from a range of different cultural and industry backgrounds
• Experience in the mining or other heavy industry in a senior role
• Limited Project Management skills in a multi-disciplined environment and a demonstrated ability to build supportive relationships and teams
