Our client in the manufacturing industry is seeking to employ a Lead IT Business Analyst to join their team.

Purpose of the Job:

The person in this role will be required to be a business liaison and analyst between IT and the business units within the company. Gathering business requirements, fully comprehending and documenting these in a meaningful manner that can easily be interpreted into a solution by vendors.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

These responsibilities have been split into primary and secondary requirements based on deemed importance of the role.

Primary

  • Understand the vision and objectives of both the company and the strategy of the IT department in helping to meet these goals
  • Very strong interpersonal skills needed for forging relationships with all departments, their business leads and team members
  • Maintaining relationships with the company’s IT service providers, while maintaining an objective stance on their delivery and ensuring quality in terms of their planning and alignment to the final delivered product

-       Deviation from what was intended needs to be understood & accountability held

  • To ensure solutions are in line with business strategy
  • To ensure the successful transfer of IP from providers to the business in terms of complete and thorough documentation in a usable state
  • Provide a “business requirements gathering framework” within which you would operate
  • Ensure clear communications between users, technical team and other stakeholders
  • Focus on best practice approaches for projects ensuring that the vendor is in line with delivery plans and continuous improvement processes are in place

-       Control the software delivery lifecycle framework and policy from an IT perspective, working closely with the Product development department

-       The policy and framework do not need to be rewritten but rather enforced, evaluated, adapted and maintained

  • Use processes & procedures that are industry best practice, to drive efficiency in the business

-       Able to map processes and make use of modelling tools

  • Ensuring that any business initiative that involves technology, includes the IT department early in the phase, or before it starts
  • Business and user satisfaction framework to be developed and used in the high-level management of projects
  • Manage budgets on basic projects

Secondary

  • Conducts and appears professional at all times
  • Assist with identifying areas of opportunity where business goals can be furthered and costs reduced
  • Oversee & report on performance of service providers to IT
  • Be familiar with change management & various user adoption techniques

-       Need to understand the impact of the project and how much change management and the type of change that is required

  • Be able to present & communicate at a strategic level, to all audience levels
  • Familiar with value chain analysis methods & TOGAF principles
  • Manage vendor project management and oversee the following:

-       To ensure the drafting of project charters for the various software initiatives is sufficiently detailed

-       Ensure respective vendor performance is in-line with initial planned business expectations to ensure successful delivery

-       Internal project reporting:

-       % satisfied users

-       % on time & on budget

-       % delivering the said benefits within the required timeframe

-       Project progress to be measured against objectives & milestones

-       Ensure that scope creep is minimised & variation orders are avoided

-       Work with vendors & IT managers to allocate staff to projects based on clearly defined needs

Minimum Requirements:

  • The purpose of these requirements is to ensure that the best match between our expectations for delivery, and the candidate that is interviewed and finally recruited for the role is achieved
  • Preferably a Bachelors’ degree with business focus or sciences
  • 3 years’ experience as a Business Analyst or solutions architect
  • Extremely strong interpersonal skills and relationship building
  • Must have a solid understanding of and exposure to software development projects
  • Understands agile development methodologies
  • Has been involved in enterprise scale projects
  • Skills in workflow process mapping
  • Works well in a team
  • Strong presentation skills

Functional Requirements

  • The functional requirements for RDM are those elements that can be delivered by the candidate.
  • Business process modelling
  • High level Project & initiative risk management techniques
  • High level Project management skills
  • Due to the businesses focus on CI, Continuous improvement skills are a plus
  • Familiar with cost/benefit analysis
  • Familiar with drafting business cases
  • Familiar with drafting RFQ’s & tender documents
  • Familiar with the SDLC
  • Familiar with Agile development methods

 

Advantageous

  • Has experience and involvement across a broad base of enterprise and ERP software / platforms
  • Business Analysis courses and diplomas
  • Additional certifications such as TOGAF, ITIL, COBIT, AGILE, etc.
  • Has SAP certifications
  • S4/HANA experience
  • Enterprise SAP or other ERP implementation experience and involvement
  • ITSM (IT Service Management) experience
  • Business Intelligence experience
  • Preferable to have experience in manufacturing
  • Given the nature of the business, continuous improvement (CI) skills are preferred
  • Experience in conflict management
