Lead Project Planner (Mining & Metals, Construction and Bulk Material Handling), Various projects in Africa

Operating in many African countries constructing and maintaining process plants, offering turnkey, multi-disciplinary solutions to the Mining, Chemical, Pulp & Paper, Mineral Processing and Sugar Milling sectors.

We seek a strong leader with an engineering qualification and 10 years’ project planning experience; SMEIPP experience and a Project Management certificate would be advantageous.

Position details:

Type: Permanent.
Reports to: Construction Manager.
Reporting, total staff compliment: 3.
Key internal relationships: Construction Manager / Project Controls Manager / Project Manager.
Key external relationships: Client Planner.

Key work outputs (results required):
Scheduling:
Compile and build project schedule.
Update schedule and compare actual work performed against the base line program.
Identify activities impacting the critical path and facilitates identification of rectification measures.
Review schedules compiled by planners.
Prepare short- and long term resource allocation plans.

Risk management:
Evaluate and analyse project risks compromising project results.

Reporting:
Identify and report schedule variances.
Report project schedule risks and opportunities.
Report on required project data and information to project teams.
Prepare and present regular project schedule reports to management.

SHEQ:
Comply with SHEQ policies, procedures and standards.

Leading the team:
Select and appoint the right person for the job [willing and able with the right values].
Assign work and monitor performance.
Train and develop team members.

Job Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

Experience:
Project planner (10 years) in Mining-, metals-, construction and bulk material handling,

Qualifications:
Grade 12 - Maths and science compulsory,
Diploma/degree - Preferred [engineering],
Certificate in PM – Preferred,

Knowledge:
Microsoft Office - Suite, Microsoft Office Project - expert, Primavera.
Project planning processes.
Scheduling.
Basic PM knowledge.
