A Legal Advisor is urgently needed in East Rand (Gauteng)

Main Purpose
Manage the Legal function within the Company
Provide In-house legal services to business units of the Company in South Africa and support legal service abroad
To Identify, analyse and evaluate leal risks in relation to the company, then recommend effective course of action

Key performance areas
Advisory and consultation services w.r.t contractual obligation and risk exposure
Negotiation with customers and/ or suppliers w.r.t. contractual obligations and risk exposure
Advisory and consultation service w.r.t business improvement design
Drafting of contracts/ agreements for the Company
Reporting on legal activities to the board

Duties and Responsibilities

Functions will include but is not limited to:
Regular communication and support of legal counsel from DCI subsidiaries
Provide advisory and consultation service for MD if and when drafting and implementation of policies and business improvement projects are required
Provide advisory and consultation service for the legal Policy formulation and assistance with monitoring of compliance from time to time
Evaluate the merits of matters by conducting investigations and research before providing recommendations or conclusions
Drafting and reviewing of contracts as required by divisional business unit managers and Directors
Enter into negotiations with internal and external customers on legal matters
Recommend to business units the implementation of contractual remedies to mitigate risk once identified
Provide an advisory and consultation service if and when Company document and contract templates are reviewed
Provide input into and oversight of the management of legal risk by participation in risk committees and represent Company in respect of legal risk
Regularly review and remain and remain abreast of all statutes, regulations and governments’ policies applicable to the company, communicate such to management and store at a central location
Prepare reports to the Managing Director and divisional Directors
Attend monthly meetings with the Managing Director and Directors
Interface with external legal counsel on ad hoc basis or as required
Provide advisory and consultation service in lieu of disputes/ litigation that may arise and management of the matters
Coaching and training on legal requirements

Job Requirements
LLB Degree a minimum .Master’s Degree and advantage
5-7 years’ experience as a practiced generalist Attorney with major focus on commercial law
Experience required in the drafting of Commercial documents
Industry knowledge –FIDIC based contracts would be an advantage
Knowledge of labour law would be an advantage
