Our client is looking for a Legal and Compliance Services Manager to perform a broad range of legal, compliance, corporate governance and general legal work which are integral to its business operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General corporate compliance for the company and its subsidiary/ies;

Legal Services:
• Legal research and opinions;
• Interpret a wide range of regulatory; policy and related legal documentation;
• Contract management (writing, vetting and recording);
• Trademark protection and promotion

Compliance Services:
• Ensure the company’s compliance with the Companies Act, other relevant legislation, King III, its Memorandum of Incorporation, and subordinate by-laws
• Ensure member compliance with the company’s Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility, Membership Regulations, Certification Standards and all other related policies and by-laws;
• Educate members, employers, employees and other stakeholders on the company’s Certification Standards
• Manage the disciplinary process for complaints against its members

Corporate Governance:
• Assist the company secretary with managing all governance functions of the company and its subsidiary/ies

Ad-hoc Projects:
• Lead and manage specific projects as and when required

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

The successful incumbent will have good knowledge, skills and abilities in: collaboration, teamwork, organisation, public speaking, project management, working under pressure and legal and report writing.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:

LLB Degree, 3 years of experience as an admitted Advocate or Attorney, and a minimum of 3-5 years of general corporate practice experience in drafting/reviewing of legal and regulatory documents and trademark protection.
The following experience will be advantageous: non-profit associations; financial services industry, membership to the company or experience as a financial planner or legal advisor.
