Qualification:

Accounting Diploma or Degree



Skills & Experience:

Legal Trust experience essential (not negotiable)

2 – 3 years experience in a similar role in professional services environment

Exposure to foreign currencies advantageous

Proficient on MS Office (advanced Excel)

Financial Accounting package experience



Job Description:

Responsible for managing the daily trust account from compiling transfer list to end of day reconciliation ensuring it is in line with the Rules and Regulation of the Attorneys Act and the Cape Law Society.

Responsible for trust accounts including transfers, capturing of EFT’s/Deposits and Debits.

Opening, closing and preparing monthly reconciliations of all investment accounts.

Prepare daily trust disbursement batch and investment related transfers for verification.

Assistance for Trust auditors and attending to queries.

Prepare the Trust interest due to the Cape Law Society bi-annually reviewed by Financial Accountant.

As and when required export statement from the bank online and uploading to accounts system for daily trust bank recons.

Load payments in batches and import these payment batches onto bank online.

Daily capturing and payment uploads of creditors’ accounts.

Maintaining accurate and auditable records of transactions.

Prepare relevant documentation for verification by relevant individual to be sent to the bank for forex payments.

Monitor and accepting foreign payments to trust account from the bank online.

Prepare monthly GL reconciliations for several GL accounts for sign off by Financial Accountant.

Accurate capturing and payments of foreign creditors in foreign currencies onto accounts system.

Demonstrates a working knowledge of products, services, customers, suppliers in own area.

Uses several, common software features (e. g., produces business formatting of documents).

Conducts simple database searches.

Converts files from one format to another.

Imports data between common applications.
