Our client is leading organisation in the ICT industry is seeking a Legal specialist to join their team in Midrand.

Main Purpose of the job

The incumbent with be responsible to act as an expert in the subject matter and provide legal advice to and support all business units to ensure compliance with laws and management of risks within a competitive commercial environment as well as ensuring effective interfacing and alignment with other functions within the cluster.

Key areas of responsibility

Ensure assigned dedicated targets within the relevant areas are achieved by acting as subject matter expert.
Examine the environment for current best practices, new developments (including new case law and legislation and professional guidelines) and potential legal risks in order to support the business in maintaining acceptable risk profiles and profitability.
In-depth analysis and understanding of the business subject to support the development of an execution strategy and practical implementation by providing and applying expert advice and knowledge.
Identify and communicate legal risks and contribute to the maintenance of the corporate risk register
Provide high quality service in line with agreed measurements, methodologies, standards and business requirements and to provide timeous feedback through effective reporting
Operate within the budgets, business cases and forecasts.
Provide support to business areas in adhering to governance and compliance objectives and initiatives to ensure sustainability and the achievement of company objectives by interacting with relevant stakeholders on a regular basis.
Continuously evaluate business systems and processes and make suggestions for the improvement thereof.
Proactively identify and manage legal and commercial risks in order to reduce risk to the company and avoid revenue leakage.
Support pre-sales, sales and delivery teams during and after contract negotiations by drafting, negotiating and leading negotiating teams to ensure that contractual relationships are lawful and sustainable.
Report and communicate with internal and external stakeholders (including compliance, security, pricing, sales & pre-sales functions as well as interfacing with international forums and colleagues, company secretarial functions and others) to ensure appropriate information flows, cross-pollination of ideas and in order to provide real-time and accurate assessments of existing and potential future risks and to achieve sustainable improvements in relevant business performance indicators, workflows.
Provide on-going legal advice and training to proactively and reactively keep the business units abreast of legal developments to ensure governance and compliance.
Ensure alignment between our client and the relevant requirements, measurements and reporting demands imposed by client as well as requirements such as SOX, IFRS, relevant governance codes etc.
Provide legal advice to colleagues and management to safe-guard the company's interests.
Manage litigation (commercial, labour and criminal) by and against the company to safe-guard its interests.
Manage and liaise with external attorneys who are appointed to handle matters on behalf of the company.

Education and experience required:

LLB or B Proc degree.
3-5 Years' post admission experience.
3 - 5 Years' experience within a corporate environment.
Experience within the ITC industry will be an advantage.
