A new division at a leading banking sector seeks a
Linux Administrator/ Engineer & Team Lead (Senior) who have a good understanding of the Banking Industry to;- Design, install, administer, and optimize company servers and related components to achieve high performance of the various business applications supported by tuning the servers as necessary.
- Ensure the availability of client/server applications, configuring all new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment.
- Assist in overseeing the physical security, integrity, and safety of the data centre/server farm.
- Deal with all issues that arise, and lead decision-making concerning IT projects and solutions.
Responsibilities:- Continuity and maintenance of the server environment
- Creation and modification of user accounts and permissions
- Setting up batches
- Scripting
- Configuration of New Systems/Application
- Maintaining and upgrading existing systems
- Performance monitoring and fine-tuning
- Creating and/or documenting all systems and administration tasks
- Apply and maintain the security policies
- Create, test and implement shell and Perl scripts
- Provide technical support for business servers and applications
- Ensure the adherence to architectural standards
- Ensure conformance to established standards
- Perform server builds
- Install and configure server operating systems, application software and hardware upgrades
- Execute basic data backup recoveries; antivirus software and pattern file updates
- Perform operating system upgrades and patches
- Work on evenings and weekends to perform after-hour server administration.
- Be available on call
Qualifications and Experience:- Degree or Diploma in IT (BSc Computer Science / Information Systems)
- 5 Years experience
- Have excellent system administration experience in Linux/Unix performance & tuning skills.
- Linux/ Unix product administration such as Apache, Disk Suite, Volume Manager
- Good understanding of the Linux/Unix architecture.
- Run and Configure JBoss.
- Good understanding of server clustering principles and products
- Knowledge of scheduling, scripting and batches.
- Security implementation.
- Knowledge of JBOSS, Web logic, Web sphere Application Server, Web sphere TX Series (CICS, SFS, DCE), Legato, Control-M, MQ Series and See Beyond will be an advantage
- Experience with administering Windows, Suse, Centos and Fedora servers
- MCSA/MCSE active certification
- Proficient knowledge of MS Office applications sufficient to produce emails, memos, manipulate detailed spreadsheets and MS Access database reporting queries.
- Proficient knowledge of DNS, TCP/IP networking and Remote Access Networking (Citrix, RAS, VPN, etc.).
- Strong organizational and time management skills, driving tasks to completion.
- Proficiency in Project Management tools, especially MS Project
- Good knowledge of MS Office – i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
- Expert-level ability to identify and troubleshoot network and server performance-related issues.
- Expert-level ability to assemble servers; install software packages, updates and patches.
- Server support experience, networking (Cisco) and basic database administration / security (Firewalls) skills are essential
