A leading Informationâ??s Technology Company based in Durbanville currently has a vacancy available for a Linux Systems Administrator

Job Purpose Summary

The primary responsibility of the Systems Administrator is providing support, monitoring and maintaining Linux infrastructures, applications and servers, for both internal and external stakeholders.

Duties and responsibilities

• Linux platform client support
• User administration
• Password and Identity management
• Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot the infrastructure environment ( physical and virtual)
• Network architecture design and implementation
• Project management
• VOIP installation and support (Asterisk)
• Feedback to customers
• Research and development
• Install, configure and maintain Linux servers and services such as Domain name (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol(DHCP) , network print queues, and File Transfer Protocol (FTP).
• Install, configure and maintain wireless networks ( Ubiquity, MikroTik)
• Create and modify configuration and other scripts (Bash/Python/PHP)
• Coordinate and execute repair activities

Minimum Requirements

• Matric / Grade 12; postgraduate qualification preferable
• Valid Driver’s License
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Linux Administrator
• Relevant qualification ( A+, N+, MCTS, Linux+/LPIC1 and 2)
• CCNA and Security+ Advantageous

Skills Required

• Excellent networking implementation and troubleshooting skills( TCP/IP)
• Strong communication skills ( Verbal and Written)
• Excellent understanding of VOIP systems
• Excellent understanding of IMAP and Postfix
• Apache web server and PHP installation, maintenance, administration, and database systems (Postgresql, MySQL)
