A large technology company based in Bryanston is looking for a unique and passionate Linux Systems Administrator to join their IT Infrastructure Team to support their corporate and commercial infrastructure.  Preference will be given to NON-BEE Candidates, however not exclusive too.
Salary:  R25 000 – R33 000 
 
Requirements:
  • A+, N+ certification (required)
  • Linux+ / LPIC 1 certification (beneficial)
  • Linux & Windows administration experience (required)
  • Ability and willingness to work after-hours, over weekends.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as Systems Administrator.
  • Security applications
  • IPTables & Squid
  • Active Directory
  • Content Management Systems like Wordpress
  • VMWare/Hyper-V Infrastructure
  • Cloud hosting environments and concepts
  • Time Management skills
 
Skills they are looking for:
  • Linux Operating Systems (Debian & CentOS)
  • Windows Operating Systems (Windows 8, 10 & Server 2008, 2012)
  • Database knowledge (MS SQL, PostgreSQL & MySQL)
  • Networking
  • Email Infrastructure (MS Exchange, Postfix, Spamassassin & MailScanner)
  • LAMP Environment Management
  • Troubleshooting Of Problems, Architecture And IT Infrastructure
  • Knowledge on Bash and SQL Scripting.
 
Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Ensure performance and high availability of infrastructure
  • Deploy and maintain infrastructure monitoring and reporting tools
  • Explore & Deploy open source solutions required to meet internal corporate needs
  • Be efficient enough to manage all Linux based applications and solutions
  • Managing Backup process and development of new backup procedures
  • Communicating with all onsite and offsite staff, vendors and customers in a professional manner at all times
  • As the Linux Administrator, you should actively setup knowledge sharing session with required staff
  • Responsible for installing necessary security application and adhering to best practices.
  • Upgrade and maintain 3rd party installed applications on to the servers not managed by the
  • development team
  • Ability to work with Linux-friendly applications and able to troubleshoot it when issue arises from the server
  • Password and identity management
  • Setup and maintain: - Production Environments, - Internal Infrastructure & - Cloud Infrastructure
  • Documenting Policies and Procedures for managing and maintaining Linux & Windows environments
