Position: Mergers & Acquisitions Analyst
Package: up to R800K CTC
Area: Stellenbosch

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL PREFERABLY BE FROM THE FINANCIAL SERVICES ARENA WITH A FINANCIAL QUALIFICATION. QUALIFICATION ONLY IS NOT SUFFICIENT. CLIENTS WOULD LIKE TO APPOINT SOMEONE WITH SOLID M&A EXPERIENCE.

The Corporate Development Division has been set up to step-change growth through leadership of strategy crafting, articulation and execution processes; aligning growth opportunities with corporate strategy; driving regulatory engagement; championing the growth agenda by identifying and executing mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures (brands and business); and evolving and developing the RTM capability into markets outside of Southern Africa.

Specific short listing criteria will involve the following:
1. Degree - Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Business Science, Accounting, Economics or hard sciences
2. Academic results for either high school or tertiary education will have to be impressive
3. Prior experience (not potential) in a consulting or M&A role, determining not only current value of companies, but also the forecasting

Job description
• Conducts and summarizes complex data and business analyses to develop business plans, including revenue
• Constructs financial models with minimal direction to forecast business performance
• Defines the metrics required to measure financial performance, and compares actual data to forecasted values
• Executes market research projects, gathers intelligence on current industry and consumer trends, and summarizes research findings tailored to business needs
• Works with cross-functional teams to facilitate the data and information collection
• Conducts quantitative and qualitative business models and analyses to contribute to large projects
• Constructs end-to-end operating models

Qualifications / Education and Experience Required
• Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Business Science, Accounting, Economics or hard sciences – Chemical Engineering, Physics or similar
• Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-4 years post undergraduate work experience a consulting / M&A background
• Successful candidates will have an intellectual curiosity, a focus and willingness to work hard and be output oriented versus process
• Must have a demonstrated ability to:
o Drive data to insight – beyond reporting
o Understand key business drivers and have good basic business judgment
• Build a multi variable analytical model

Knowledge and Skills Required

• Project management skills (for clients)
• Strong analytical thinking, technical analysis, and data manipulation skills
• Demonstrated business acumen and technical knowledge within area of responsibility
• Ability to learn and draw on new analytical techniques
• Systems thinking
• Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
