Machinery Technician / Service Engineer
(Mechanical or Electrical)

Our client, the world’s leading supplier in their industry sector of technologies as well as technical and consultancy services, has an exciting opportunity for a Machinery Technician / Service Engineer.

Having qualified in the Mechanical or Electrical Engineering field the ideal candidate will have experience within the tobacco industry and be interested in travel - with the main focus on Africa / Sub Sahara.

Based in either Johannesburg or Cape Town the successful incumbent will receive training overseas. Responsibilities to include:
• Installation and commissioning of single machines and entire production lines, as well as repair, maintenance, inspection and rebuilding of machines
• Production support (technical) and the technical supervision of prototypes
• Organisation and management of installation
• Training / Briefing of customer staff and training of new colleagues
• Project co-ordination
• Identification of machinery and service potential

Essential requirements :
• Some experience within the TOBACCO industry
• Relevant qualification – Mechanical / Electrical Engineering Degree or National Diploma
• Proven analytical skills
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Experience in setting up internet connections and familiar with MS Office
• Able to travel on an international and long-term basis when required (e.g. 4 – 12 weeks at a time).
Note: Initial overseas training is between 2 and 6 months as is dependent on prior experience (may be broken into blocks of travel)
