Salary: Market Related

Qualifications:
• N4 Certificate (Instrumentation) Level 5 Essential
• National Diploma Engineering Level 6 Advantage
• Instrumentation Trade Test Level 5 Essential

Experience:

Applicable Plant / Mine exposure within a heavy industry / mining / production environment (3-5 years)
• XRF analyzers - functionality, maintenance and fault finding
• OES spectrometers - functionality, maintenance and fault finding
• Vacuum systems (for XRF and OES)
• ABB Robotics - Basics on how to read/write a program. How to manipulate the robot.
• Automated/Manual Mills, Presses and Grinders. Fault finding on pneumatic/electronic systems
• Allen Bradley PLC’s and RS Logix software
• Furnace’s and Katanax fusion machines. Temperature controllers and Thermocouples.
• Access control systems – Fibre optics, controllers, terminals and software
• PABX systems. Call management systems. Laying/terminating Telephone lines.
• Basic Instrumentation knowledge – Flow meters, level, pressure, etc.
• Transponder systems including fault-finding and maintenance.
• Weighbridge operation and fault-finding. Boom gate control
• Team / Project Leader / Supervisor (2 Years)

Responsibilities:

Maintenance Control:
• Ensure effective and preventative maintenance management of all plant and infrastructure machines, systems and equipment to limit failure and optimize production processes.
• Coordinate plant shutdowns

Production Efficiency:
• Achieve production targets through optimum output.
• Ensure operational efficiency and quality. Assume responsibility for coordinating first line maintenance to limit plant / equipment downtime.
• Control stock levels (where applicable).

Production Efficiency:
• Drive research and development initiatives to ensure continuous improvement and enhanced performance. Keep abreast of new developments and potential threats within designated area are identified and addressed timeously.
• Benchmark plant / mining activities and track performance to indicate improvement opportunities.

Budget and Cost Control:
• To ensure that actual costs are within the boundaries set by the manpower and operational budgets.
• Rectify deviations.

Effective People Management;
• Act as change agent to foster an environment where people are motivated and seek out better ways of operating the team and sub-team processes to build high performing teams.
• Motivate and inspire staff to excel at the jobs and strive for excellence.
• Manage and develop performance contracts for all subordinates ensuring alignment to the overall service contracts.
• Direct and lead team through visible and transformational leadership behaviour that facilitates superior people performance.
• Ensure performance contracts and succession planning processes are deployed to support the creation of an enabling environment.

Compliance:
• Ensure all business as well as, Plant / Mining operations adhere and comply with corporate governance, statutory, legal and other requirements.
• Adhere to applicable MHSA/OHS Act, company-specific SHEC policies, procedures and legislation.
• Manage risk by assessing liabilities, reporting and monitoring standards, as well as attending to rehabilitation / environmental problems in line with companies standards.
• Accept responsibility for SHERC by creating awareness and addressing all unsafe practices in a timeous manner.
