Job Purpose:
To effectively and efficiently manage the mechanical and electrical maintenance of Germiston Plant, such that the area and machinery availability is maximized and maintained within the scope of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 1993 and regulations. Effectively Liaise with Production Superior and subordinates to achieve the above.

Key accountability:
Quality:
• Regularly review and maintain the maintenance system (tasks list and schedules).
• Develop works instructions through own and subordinates input to standardize tasks spare requirements following the WCM guidelines.
• Assist in maintaining ISO 9001 and ensure all requirements of the standard are met.
• Ensure no rework on equipment as a result of the Germiston Maintenance and Engineering team.
Cost:
• Identify critical spare requirements and ensure availability at all times.
• Liaise with store personnel re: equipment holding/storage and stock requirements.
• Visual display with graphics the PM team performance (costs, effectiveness and productivity).
• Control maintenance costs effectively and prevents as far as possible over expenditure. Goal is to achieve 6% saving on maintenance cost per annum.
• Control fixed costs effectively and prevent as far as possible over expenditure. Goal is to achieve 6% saving on fixed cost per annum.
• Complete projects within allocated budget.
Delivery:
• Do general daily administrative tasks and monthly reports on WCM.
• Plan, prepare, approve and oversee maintenance shut tasks and execute these tasks.
• Ensure that there are no shut overruns.
• Ensure effective shut planning.
• Reduce reaction times to breakdowns.(MTTR)
• Increase mean time before failures (MTBF)
• Projects that can be handled within given capacity.
• Complete projects on time.
• Prepare tender meetings and comply with the given commercial standards.
• Meet with suppliers, contractors and 3rd party inspectors when required.
• Co-ordinate plans and executes daily work load and production requests.
• Perform standby duties when require and give assistance when called on with after hour breakdowns.

• The Foreman will perform any task that may be given to him from time to time by the Engineering Superintendent.
• First line fitter toolbox will be held on site and used by the foreman
Environment/ Safety:
• Maintain high work and safety standards within area of responsibility.
• Perform SHEQ audits.
• Assist in maintaining ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 and ensure all requirements of the standards are met.
• Perform Good Housekeeping Inspection, 5S and ensure plant housekeeping is of a high standard.
People:
• Manage the engineering personnel through proper guidance, supervision, inspection and discipline. Utilize WCM tools daily as Foreman and lead by example.
• Assist with training, coaching, upgrading and general development of subordinates.
• Maintain open channel communication with subordinates through daily meeting for two-way feedback.
• Perform BI-annual performance appraisals.
• Enforce WCM principles onto subordinates.
• Maintain a high standard of time management of self and subordinates.

Qualifications required to fulfil the role
• Matric or equivalent
• Relevant tertiary qualification
• Trade Test pass

Specific work experience required to fulfil the role
• 5 Years minimum relevant experience within a manufacturing / plant environment, 2 years should have been on supervisory level.
