Contract position in the mining sector in a remote and safe area of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Single status position (not favourable for wives and families to reside there). Reports to the Financial Manager.
PLEASE NOTE: Regrettably, we are unable to consider candidates who do not have prior mining industry experience (This is a crucial requirement and NOT negotiable).
ROLE PURPOSE: Preparing measurement reports. Provide recommendations to improve performance, whilst compliant to financial policies and procedures.
REQUIREMENTS:
B Degree: Majoring in Accounting or Financial Management
Knowledge of: Financial and management accounting; Financial planning and management; Understanding and/or experience in cost accounting; Formulate and structure departmental cost centre budgets; Measure and report financial and business results; Prepare journals; Monitor processes for creation of budget forecasts; Maintain internal control processes
Minimum 3 years experience in management accounting
Mining experience preferential
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Assist business stakeholders in the interpretation and understanding of financial reports and where needed produce various reports
Discuss performance reports with relevant business owners and identify action plans to address gaps in the Short Term Plan / Forecast
Provide detailed monthly financial commentary for inclusion month end reporting.
Calculate and comment on monthly financial graphs and ratios
Participate in relevant management forums/meetings (e.g. monthly management meetings)
Proactively analyse the financial results and provide recommendations to business to improve performance
Identify areas of process improvement and make recommendations to business
Analyze revenue and expenditure trends and recommend appropriate budget levels, and ensure expenditure control.
Develop tools for forecasting future financial performance

REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS:
Salary up to US$102,000 net per annum dependant on skills and experience.
