B Comm or similar with Accounts III a must.
? To ensure that the status of general accounting records is complete and accurate for management and audit purposes.
? Reviews and ensures appropriate internal controls for areas of responsibility
? Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures
? Manages / supervises the general accounting staff in terms of respective responsibilities and provides day-to-day leadership to the Bookkeeper, Accounts Clerk and Accounts Administrator.
? Managing staff (soft issues) including managing morale and attitudes.
? Managing staff performance and deadlines.
? Departmental administration:
- KPA’s and job descriptions
- New employee admin and probationary evaluations
? Responsible for producing monthly and quarterly management accounts.
? Ensure that all balance sheet recons are completed monthly and no items are outstanding for longer than 60 days.
? Review all Bank reconciliations ensuring completeness. i.e. All cashbooks are processed and reconcile to bank statements. Update group bank reconciliation schedule.
? Online Banking - Releasing of daily claims payments, creditors payments, claims top ups, internal transfers
? Creditors - supervise/oversee the creditors function
? Debtors - supervise/oversee the debtors function
? To ensure that the fixed asset register is complete and accurate
? Responsible for the Expense reporting of the company – include analysis, budgeting and forecasting.
? Audit - Prepare schedules, assist with queries and produce documentation
? Vat Returns - complete and submit returns accurately and timeously
? Journals – create monthly journals for Investment Accounting, depreciation, prepaid expenses, salaries, accruals and provisions
? Intercompany transactions - Monthly interest calculations for intercompany loan accounts. Ensure balancing of intercompany accounts on a monthly basis.
? Highlight discrepancies, non-compliance of procedures or suspicious entries that may give rise to inappropriate action. Notify the manager of these discrepancies and follow appropriate action.
? Assist with completion and submission of annual income tax returns.
? Internal and external audit processes - review staff’s year-end audit files and assist in overseeing the external and internal audits.
