Manager: Learning Technologies
Location: Stellenbosch, Western Cape

Appointment Date: 1 August 2018 or as soon as possible
Remuneration: R 45,000 Negotiable

Purpose of the position:
To manage the design, development and implementation of e- learning services to be in line with the strategic learning objectives of the business school.

Key Responsibilities:
Content creation:
Responsible for the development of online materials, including the development of materials using Moodle, mobile devices and other future new technologies
Develop presentations, multimedia (e.g. videos, animations, podcasts, etc.) and graphics to support learning and organizational development activities incorporating best practices in visual and multimedia design
Design, development and ongoing support of online learning portals and program and stand-alone virtual learning resources
Design and implement effective in-person and online meetings, trainings and workshops that integrate appropriate technology tools to achieve stated outcomes

Functional Support and Development:
Assist academic staff with the production of online content ranging from documents to multimedia
Participate in the evaluation, selection, testing and implementation of hardware and software tools, technologies and services that enhance the teaching/learning experience
Mentor and train academic staff to increase their familiarity with technology tools
Provide customer support on all technologies
Proactively look for opportunities to improve the use of technology in the development of courses across learning environments
Instructional Design
Innovation and Strategy
Research and implement new ideas and innovation in the online learning space as deemed appropriate by leadership.

Research:
Identify, develop and implement technology-based knowledge management practices, tools and products
Offer appropriate options for technology-supported interventions to clients
Stay current on what is evolving in the tech field as it relates to learning

Minimum Requirements:
A three-year relevant degree or diploma
Three years’ relevant experience in an academic environment
Instructional Design qualification and experience
Knowledge of adult education design and techniques
Learner Management Systems (Moodle) technical and pedagogical knowledge
Instructional design and education theory, particularly adult education
Content and Graphical Design
Experience in the analysis, design and development of e-learning programs
Advanced knowledge and application of User Experience Design principles
Four years’ working experience with Moodle systems at an administrative level.

Technical Skills required:
Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook,
HTML/ HTML5 / CSS
Knowledge of PHP, Responsive design, MySQL, Moodle
Photo and video editing
Articulate Storyline
5 years’ working experience in an e-learning environment in the development of online courses and Moodle administration
