Job Description:
Manager: Wholesale Collections
Tactical Implementation
Keep abreast of global and local best practice as it relates billings and collections strategy execution and effectiveness
Work in collaboration with the Senior Manager towards the planning and managing of the human and material resources of the sub-division to optimise performance, morale and enhance productivity
Assess and challenge the collections processes and procedures to ensure there are aligned with strategic objectives
Collections Management
Provide input into establishing the collections policy, goals and guidelines
Research, develop and implement collections procedures that reduce the amount of delinquency they encounter
Design collection procedures and processes in line with the customers’ requirements and maintain relationship with relevant customers to facilitate effective wholesale collections
Track performance levels and monitor the impact of procedural changes on collections performance
Provide a framework and fine-tune systems to ensure the effective collection of outstanding funds in accordance with the terms stipulated in the relevant commercial agreements
Establish procedures to control losses from overdue or delinquent accounts
Monitor collection processes and operations and makes recommendations on opportunities for improvement
Constantly identify trends in the collections sphere and ensure that these are fully taken into account in the formulation of the division’s future plans
Engage and maintain sound relationships with wholesale customers to drive the collection process to ensure that invoices are paid within the contracting terms
Act as a point of contact for query resolution related to billings and collections, engaging with the Manager: Wholesale Billings and Key Account Manager, maintaining the communication with the customer and keeping the internal team accountable for the swift and efficient resolution
Tactical meetings
Participate and provide input into tactical meetings
Participate in any other cross-functional tactical meetings
Escalations
Provide input and recommendations/escalate serious issues to ensure all actions are aligned to the business plan and strategic intent
Escalate complex issues that will result in significant time, scope, employee/customer or cost impacts if not resolved
Contribute towards generating solutions to issues that require formal resolution
Performance
Review and monitor historical performance of wholesale customers against agreed KPIs and compliance to SLAs
Review performance of direct reports and provide relevant training
Reporting
Generate reports on the Wholesale Collections department’s progress and statistics
Review and evaluate reports for financial collection accounts and delinquent accounts
Minimum of 3 year tertiary degree Commerce or related
Postgraduate qualificationadvantageous
Fluent in English
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Collections, Accounts Receivable or related area
Sound Telecommunications commercial knowledge and experience
Knowledge of Collections laws and regulations
Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and Financial Systems
