JOB OBJECTIVE

• Performance Management
• Controlling costs to derive maximum benefit
• Responsible for overall direction of the business and for achieving maximum return on invested capital
• Coordinate the efforts of the senior executives to develop current & long range objectives, policies and procedures for the organization
• Represent the organization to its customers, the financial community and the general public

TASK DESCRIPTION
Leadership
• Provide leadership and a positive working environment that fosters teamwork, communication, ethical behaviour and a “can do” attitude
• Participate in developing a vision and strategic plan to guide the organization
• Identify, assess and inform the executives of the internal & external issues that affect the organization
• Foster effective team work between management and staff
• Develop, train, coach, discipline and mentor managers within the department providing feedback, direction and leadership so that they may carry out the daily activities of the department, all while grooming them for upward mobility within the company
• Act as a spokesperson for the organization
• Delegate responsibilities and supervise the work of executives providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance
• Build and maintain an effective executive team

Budgeting and Operational planning & management
• Develop budgeting and capital plans. Manage expenses within the department in accordance with the Afrikelp directive
• Develop an operational plan which incorporates goals and objectives that work towards the strategic direction of the organization
• Ensure that the operation of the organization meets the expectations of its clients and Shareholders
• Provide timely and accurate reporting of all financial and non-financial information as directed, requested or required by Executives
• Maintain clear understanding of and implements all Afrikelp standards in addition to ensuring compliance with all local and international regulatory standards/laws.
• Ensures proper mixing, calibration, and application of all chemicals used on the course
• Oversee the efficient and effective day to day operation of the organization
• Prepare and implement a comprehensive business plan to facilitate achievement by planning cost effective operations and market development activities
• Ensure that the services offered by the organization contribute to the organizations mission and reflect the priorities of the shareholders
• Oversee the planning, implementation, execution and evaluation of special projects
• Maintain ongoing awareness of all agronomic activity on the course and provide constant feedback and direction to key staff members
• Stay abreast of current agronomic information
• Ensures both upward and downward communication within the department and respective division

Risk Management
• Identify and evaluate the risks to the organization`s people, clients, staff, management, property, finances, goodwill and image and implement measures to control risk
• Ensure that the organization carries appropriate and adequate insurance cover
• Ensure the successful implementation of succession plans and associated training thereby minimizing the risk to the organization

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Appropriate tertiary qualification and experience in the disciplines of Agronomy and Horticulture are a pre-requisite.
• Must have 5 – 10 years’ experience in a leadership role, 3 years as a Managing Director or Senior Executive
• Possesses expert level understanding of agronomy principles and management.
• Strong communication, sales and presentation skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritize projects
• Must be team oriented and results focused
• Knowledge of leadership and management principles
• Knowledge of Human resources management
• Knowledge of Financial management
• Knowledge of Project management
• Knowledge of Marketing activities

Experience
• 10 years or more of progressive management experience
• Proven track record
