You will be responsible for:

A large manufacturing concern in the Western Cape and specialising in the Industrial manufacturing industry is looking for a Mechanical Manufacturing Lead. Your role will consist of a wide verity of manufacturing processes in a fast passed and pressurized environment. This position is for a “hands-on”, technical person with resilience and the desire to make things work as well as think outside the box. Your positive attitude and ability to work in a large and diverse environment is all part of this exciting position.


Qualifications:

• Min N6 Mechanical Engineering
• 10 years experience gained in a manufacturing environment
• Management of large teams
• Valid SA ID Book

• Coordinate production activities with those of other departments;
• Plan, organise and direct the manufacturing operations which ensure the most effective return on assets;
• Initiate plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilisation of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital. Assure attainment of business objectives and productions schedules while insuring product standards that will exceed our customers’ expectations;
• Implement manufacturing strategies
• Encourage use of new techniques and focus on fact based problem solving;
• Assure that disciplinary issues are effectively administered and that employee grievances are addressed in a timely fashion;
• Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes;
• Institutionalize manufacturing Best Practice Tools and Processes;
• Track competencies of subordinates and provide leadership and development as required to achieve the objectives. Develop plans to address needs;
• Establish and maintain a standard of performance for the operation. Insure the alignment of the manufacturing organization with the company vision, purpose and priorities;
• Ensure continual improvement with overall quality of product;
• Working knowledge of multi-discipline fields of maintenance, plant engineering, and manufacturing;
• High level of integrity and confidentiality;
• Project Management skills;
• Must solve technical problems, find solutions to crises, and plan to minimize crises;
• Develop and implement a proactive engineering and support strategy focused on increasing production reliability ;
• Able to evaluate alternatives, establishing priorities, and formulating decisions that affect all aspects of the operation;
• Able to set department objectives, provide work direction, coach, counsel, train and conduct performance reviews.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to see larger business objective and translate into functional strategies and tactics;
• Knowledge of the Labour act, OHSA and or any other regulatory acts which may affect the company.
