The company is a turnkey solutions provider, offering a full product portfolio and complete services. This offering is further supported by its own manufacturing facility and assembly workshop. It currently has a staff contingent of around 200 motivated people on various sites around the country.

The company provides turnkey projects, equipment, spares, service and maintenance in boiler cleaning systems, materials handling systems (e.g. ash handling, sorbent injection systems, DRYCON), air pollution control systems, energy recovery and air gas handling systems in the following industries:

• Power (Utility and Industrial)
• Waste to Energy and Biomass
• Mining, metals and minerals
• Cement
• Pulp and Paper
• Petrochemical

The company requires a:

MANUFACTURING SUPERINTENDENT

Position Description:
To supervise the manufacturing personnel and activities of the following Manufacturing sections: Assembly, Manufacturing & Paint Shop. Further to ensure that each mentioned section within the department operates in a productive, on time & efficient manner.

Major Areas of responsibility:

•Safety – Ensure that a safe working environment is kept through having Risk Assessments, SOP’s and Registers of Tools & Equipment with suitable checklists.
•Planning: Sets of direction for work-unit by formulating objectives based on the Department’s Planned Schedule as the foundation for formulating work-unit plans, setting personal & direct report objectives and measurable performance standards; prepares and manages the work-unit’s operating strategy.
•Leading: Develop and train staff to acquire additional competencies, motivates them to be excellent performers; coaches and/or mentors direct subordinates and inspires them to do the same for their subordinates, all the way down the line, guides his direct reports in the accomplishment of their own objectives; a role model for the company’s values; communicates the necessary information and data to staff as and when needed problem solving.
•Organising: Regularly reconciles work-unit manpower needs against department order book,
Schedule of deliverables and goals; apportions work to current staff to ensure the work – units plans are effectively accomplished; Organises work to ensure that all staff are optimally utilised.
•Reporting: Ensure that proper feedback on job status change (daily) gets fed back to the planner and Co-ordinator for effective support in; inspections, Services required, job closure and delivery to clients.
•Directing: Monitors and evaluates performance of direct staff based on the mutually set objectives so good performance is continued and corrective actions are implemented when necessary; manages the implementation of the approved work-unit strategy; Implements/enforce approved company policies, guidelines and procedures; practices positive discipline; reviews and improves systems, policies and procedures directly related to the operations of his work unit.

Main Deliverables/KPI’s:

•Development & maintenance of work packs and work pack register, gathering required documentation required in the work packs and to ensure the work packs reached supervisors on the job planned start dates as well as follow up on job completion dates.
•Co-ordinate relevant jobs with supply chain, sales and supervisors to ensure fluent flow of work.
•Coordinating of systems/procedures that will assist in the co-ordination of jobs and relevant business processes and procedures.
•Resolve immediate documentation issues relative to the work packs such as drawing errors, insufficient documentation, insufficient specifications or requirements, redlining of drawings, engineering concession requests in order to avoid standing time on the shop floor.
•Coordinate job related time keeping issues with workshop personnel relative to your work packs.
•Ensure and coordinate that all workshop related SHE documents are being filled in and filled in by delegated employees in the workshop on either a weekly or daily basis.
•Ensure that the machining, welding, fabrication, panting and utilities requirements are effectively and productively delivered.
•Ensure that all assigned special projects are accomplished per approved parameters and specifications.
•Manages contractual workers specially engaged for the special projects.
•Supervises materials planning and maintains overall control over the issuance and replenishment of spare parts and materials.
•Ensure that all relevant records are kept and updated.
•Ensure the implementation of the preventative/corrective/preventative maintenance program on the Plant’s equipment and auxiliaries such as air compressors, blowers, water pumps and other equipment under utilities.
•Ensure that safe work rules and practices are understood, implemented and consistently followed by employees and contractors.
•Contributes to the achievement of production, quality, environment, equipment utilisation, reliability and overall equipment efficiency (OEE) targets.
•Reviews priorities assigned to work orders and all planned activities.
•Completes maintenance related jobs according to the highest standards of safety, efficiency and effectiveness.
•Participates/Contributes to Root cause analysis (RCA) meetings for significant and chronic equipment problems to avoid its recurrence.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

•Diploma (Industrial, Mechanical, Quality or Manufacturing) & Matric but it will be beneficial if you are currently studying in the following directions part time, Project Management, Engineering (Mechanical or Civil).
•Any of the following: Planning, Quality, Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing course attended.
•Microsoft Office (Excel, Word specifically, the rest will be beneficial)
