Our client currently has an opportunity for a Manufacturing Supervisor to manage the Industrial Hydraulics Department and to ensure production targets are met.

Job Description:

Production and Technical duties
• Schedule production to meet production targets
• Request materials, certificates and components required to produce finished goods
• Request manufacturing consumables, tooling and equipment as needed
• Program, tool-up machinery and equipment to suit job requirements.
• Assign and manage staff
• Oversee and accept responsibility for the pressure testing of fabrications
• Ensure that deadlines are adhered to
• Ensure workshop is run in accordance with good engineering practices

Supervisory duties
• Supervise staff
o Boilermaker
o Welders
o Operators
o Setter
o General workers
o Additional staff brought in to suit production requirements
• Manage time keeping and efficiency of staff
• Maintain good working relationship with staff and correct behavior if needed.

CNC Programming & machine setup
• Setup of machinery
• Load and write programs for CNC machinery as necessary
• Utilize knowledge of Fanuc milling and turning controls including 4-axis milling
• Ensuring that work is performed in accordance with relevant, safe working procedures

GMR2 appointment
• Accept position and responsibilities of an 8.2 & GMR2.1/GMR2.7

H&S duties
• Ensure H&S of staff is not compromised.
• Train staff on correct use of PPE and operation of equipment
• Perform 1st aid and maintain 1st aid kit.
• Investigate and report on any H&S incidents within the department
• Implement preventative measures to prevent reoccurrences of H&S incidents
• Attend H&S meetings and conduct regular toolbox talks

Company Production Systems
• Ensure DPS is implemented in the department
• Perform role and responsibilities of TPM metric leader and attend DPS meetings.
• Establish critical spares list and ensure critical spares are available for equipment, machinery and products produced
• Train staff on TPM

Quality duties
• Ensure materials and components comply with specifications prior to receipt of goods
• Ensure inline quality checks are in place and followed in all work cells
• Ensure all quality documentation is up to date in each work cell
• Prepare first offs and last offs for final inspection by QC department
• Sign off finished goods and ensure goods meet quality standards prior to booking into stores

Maintenance duties
• Ensure all machinery and equipment within the department is clean, properly maintained and operational, including:
a. Manual & CNC lathes
b. CNC Machining Centers
c. Drill Presses, Surface Grinder, Milling machine, Pneumatic Tapper, Precision Welding & Sawing equipment.
• Assume responsibility of the maintenance of equipment in the other departments at the plant.

Qualification and Experience: Desired Skills and Experience:

Matric
Trade test Qualification (Tool Making / Fitter & Turner or similar with background in machining)
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
