Maritime company in need of a Mate who will assist with the management and control all aspects of the vessels operation and planning associated with the safe and efficient running of the vessel and crew.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety of vessel and crew;
Compliance with company watch keeping procedures;
Compliance with customs, immigration and port regulations;
Ensure that hygiene requirements are strictly adhered to;
Optimize use of supplies, equipment and conservative use of fuel;
Ensure care & maintenance of fishing gear & associated equipment;
Ensure that accurate ETA & fishing tallies are communicated;
Ensure that crews are advised of sailing & docking orders;
Ensure that discipline is maintained at all times;
Ensure that all electronics aids on board are maintained as defined by certain SOP’s and in accordance with manufacturers’ requirements;
Ensure that all officers and managers on board train & mentor the transfer of all skills to the further development of all on board the vessel.

REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:
SAMSA Fisherman Grade 3 Qualification
Safety Officer certificates an advantageous;
Management Skills;
Fishing capabilities;
Interpersonal skills;
Computer literate;
Be able to work under pressure;
Be able to meet deadlines;
