MASTER PLANNER - PIETERMARITZBURG

Primary functions of this position
A highly visible operations role that is accountable for the on-going management of planning of production through multiple work centres.
This position requires a strategic thought individual with a very strong analytical ability and extensive ERP knowledge.
This individual must have the ability to ensure the right balance between product availability, service, and stock. The position objective is to manage the production planning with the goal of balancing inventory requirements and improving throughput and stock holding. This involves maintaining the creditability and functionality of the Master Production Schedule as well as identifying problems and determining the ‘root cause’ to ensure corrective action is taken.

Main tasks of Job:
• Weekly management of the Master Production Schedule on Syspro (MPS)
• Maintain the credibility of the Master Schedule, The Master Schedule MUST represent what the company plans to produce and must be expressed in specific configurations, quantities and dates.
• The Master Scheduler must be able to take into account the forecast, the production plan as well as any material backlogs, availability of material, availability of capacity and management policy and goals.
• Identify and resolve schedule issues in regards to the MPS.
• Master Scheduler should ensure the Master database data required for ERP and implementation of production scheduling is controlled and updated to reflect the correct information required for ERP functionality. (Item Master, Warehouse Master and the Bills of Material module)
• Assist the ME Department (Manufacturing Engineering) in setting up the routing and BOM times
• Establish capacity planning. Initially with “rough cut” with an aim to introduce Pre-actor ONCE the BOMs have been correctly set up with correct routings and run times.
• Ensure consensus at management level on Schedule priorities.
• Provide current status and proposed plan for the monthly sales and operations planning (S&OP) meeting.
• Ensure data collection and production reporting is captured accurately and within the specified time frame.
• Ensure the smooth running of the planning and interim stores departments as well as reviewing the attainment of the plan.
• Oversee and approve schedules produced and issued by the production planners.
• Authorising of all the Change Notes prior to them being given to the change control committee, paying particular attention to those relating to Syspro Item Master or BOMS (Bills of Material)
• Authorising all DCR (Demand Change Requests) that come from the Commercial Sales department
• Monthly forecast upload analysis / detailed data analysis needed to prove validity of the upload.
• Oversee Local Orders
• Manage entire Planning team

Minimum requirements:
• Matric / Grade 12
• Diploma / Degree (Business, accounting, supply chain, engineering or related field) preferable
• 5-8 years of experience in production or inventory planning
• Extensive experience using Syspro
• Experience managing planning in manufacturing and production plans.
• Strong Excel knowledge, ability to mentor others in Excel.
• Proven success in optimizing and managing SOP’s.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a leadership role directly managing professionals
