MATERIAL HANDLER JOB VACANCY

DUTIES
• Unloading the materials from the truck as guided by the Supervisor.
• Proper storage of materials in the right location.
• Attend to administrative duties in receiving.
• Make sure that during mould change/colour change the system is cleaned properly thereby avoiding any contamination.
• Ensure all machines are supplied with correct Raw materials and masterbatch every time.
• Adherence to company’s daily production plan.
• Preparing raw material blend and supply as per the plan.
• Manage all Dryers and ensure they are cleaned and that the feeders are working on a regular basis to avoid blockages/ material run-out during production.
• Daily maintenance of filters and attending to the raw material distribution alarm.
• Maintain and administrate the Inventory movement register.
• Attending to the stoppage of the extruder machine and restart it again.
• Guiding the grinding person regarding output, material, safety and productivity.
• Make sure the under grinders are issued for cold runners and are maintained well.
• Supply Regrind material as per the Supervisors advise.
• Inform the Molding and QA using the register system before supplying the Regrind.
• Maintain the identification and traceability requirements as per WWQA spec.
• Avoid contamination or mixing of materials.
• Maintain correct identification for returned material from production and allocate it to the right location.
• Support and assist in raw material testing and color sample preparation requests.
• If any machine stops or quality issues inform the supervisor immediately over phone.
• Calibration of the dosing devices.
• Reduce the downtime due to material supply issues.
• Ensure compliance to the QMS (ISO 9001, ISO 14001)
• Ensure adherence to all relevant policies, procedures, work instructions and SOPs at all times i.e. follow Departmental procedures
• Fill up the details in the shift checklist and get Foreman approval.
• Ensure housekeeping principles are achieved before the end of shift.
• Handover a clean and efficient work area to the next Material Handler.
• Report to the chief inspector any Quality/ regulatory issues in the shift.
• Issue of substituted materials as per the approved note from HOD- Quality.
• Once in a shift performing a visual opacity check in all machines to make sure no overdosage of masterbatches.
• Participation in cross functional activities
• Ensure compliance to OHSACT and all Risk, Health and Safety procedures and statutory requirements.
• Ensure that unsafe conditions are reported and rectified.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
• Matric/ Grade 12 / Senior Certificate
• Minimum of 2 years in Plastics Raw Material Handling
• Forklift operator’s license
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Analytical skills
• Problem solving ability
• Mental and visual effort.
• Continuous, concentrated mental and visual effort to perform complex work.
• Moderate physical effort or frequent subtle Forklift control requiring extremely close tolerances.

SALARY
• R 200 000 p.a.
