Mechanical Design Draughtsman (R20,000-R25,000/m)

An exciting opportunity arose to become a key player in the development department of one of South Africa’s leading manufacturers of specialised transportation vehicles. The position is available in Jet Park, Boksburg, Johannesburg.


Primary duty:
* Design mechanical parts and assembled systems for specialised transportation vehicles.
* Design transport vehicle bodies.
* Research and develop efficient solutions to mechanical engineering challenges.
* Create accurate CAD model parts and assemblies in SolidWorks.
* Generate and detail technical drawings to SABS 10111 and company specifications.
* Create update and modify bills of materials and drawing registers.
* Working efficiently while ensuring high levels of internal customer satisfaction and preventing losses, errors and re-work.
* General office administration functions.

Qualification Requirements:
01) Formal Mechanical Design training (or proven experience).
02) Formal CAD and drawing training (or proven experience).
03) Formal SolidWorks training (or proven experience).

Skills and Knowledge Required:
04) Accurate measuring and drawing.
05) Mechanical Design and Drawing.
06) SolidWorks drawing and modeling skills.
07) Knowledge of engineering principles.
08) Knowledge of metal processing techniques.
09) Knowledge of tolerances and fits.
10) Knowledge of engineering materials and material selection process.
11) Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products.

Work Experience Required:
12) Minimum 5 years relevant Mechanical Design and Draughting experience in an engineering, manufacturing and metal fabrication environment.
