Purpose of the position
Designs and drafts machines and/or machine parts in such a way that the design meets client specific standards and criteria. Produces detailed technical drawings in accordance with acknowledged manufacturing standards. Monitors the machine building process and ensure that it meets specifications and quality standards. Updates all relevant documentation on changes made during the building process.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Machine designs:
• Produces efficient designs within the framework of simplicity, feasibility, cost efficiency, accuracy, and standardisation, the availability of parts, time frames and aesthetics.
• Produces designs that meet the specific standards and criteria in accordance with the order file
Drafting of Assemblies:
• Compiles assemblies and detailed manufacturing drawings in accordance with acknowledged manufacturing standards e.g. CE, DIN, SABS, BS.
• Compiles part specifications, BOM’s, production orders and manuals.
• Specifies components.
• Implement engineering change proposals (ECP’s) on designs.
• Issues revisions and updates the manufacturing drawings, material lists and machine manuals to “as build” completeness.
• Lay-out drawing of customer manufacturing area
• Drafting of P&ID
Technical support:
• Provides technical support during manufacturing processes to the suppliers of hardware.
• Provides technical support for technicians on site.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum qualification: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum experience: three years in machine design and manufacturing, two years CAD experience.
