MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DRAUGHTSMAN

REQUIREMENTS:-
CAD drafting with 8 years’ minimum continuous experience.
5 years’ minimum experience in mechanical engineering drafting.
Knowledge in plant and equipment drafting.
Preferably experience in equipment fabrication / testing / installation-site work / commissioning
Autodesk Inventor experience. (ESSENTIAL)
Autodesk Plant 3D experience (PREFERRED BUT NOT ESSENTIAL)

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Engineering and drafting of all mechanical equipment, mechanical handling and packaged units on assigned projects.
• Preparation and approval of project related documents and engineering notes in conjunction with the Mechanical and Process Engineering Department.
• Ensure that engineering and CAD activities on assigned projects are executed within budgeted man hours and approved schedules in compliance with project procedures, standards and specifications and in accordance with company procedures.
• Prepare and implement project specific standards and catalogues.
• Review CAD documents for correctness i.e. depicting of equipment and piping with instrumentation connections.
• Compile mechanical BOM’s and lists as may be required by engineers.
• Attend coordination meetings and engineering review meetings with engineers on major plant and/or equipment as required.
• Assist Marketing and Procurement Department with CAD documents as required.
• Assist Project Engineers with the as-built status of CAD documents.
• Review and approve vendor CAD documents for mechanical equipment.
• Give guidance to the client, project engineers, external consultant engineers and inspectors on CAD engineering matters.
• Coordinate review of all engineering aspects of supplied vendor’s drawings.
• Perform inspection and witness factory acceptance testing where required as per drawing(s).
• Advise the Mechanical Engineer of any CAD documentation generation slippages and their causes and proposed corrective action.
• Advise the Mechanical and/or Project Engineer of any system technical problems and unresolved differences with other CAD inputs.
• Notify the Mechanical and/or Project Engineer of all deficiencies in the flow of data or other basic information required for execution of work.
• Keep abreast of development in the CAD field.
• Suggest methods for improving efficiency, costs and service in the execution of CAD drawings.
• Assist where necessary in the compilation of procedures, manuals and CAD catalogues.
• Assist in the training and knowledge transfer of drafting engineering and CAD expertise to Draughtsman as required.
• Perform such duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Mechanical Engineer.
• Perform information gathering on site by means of inspection/measurements where required.
• Witness fabrication and site installation as per CAD documentation where required.
• Be available for training as, when and where required.
• Perform any administrative work where required.
