MECHANICAL DRAUGHTSMAN

We have an exciting opportunity for a 3D Designer / Draughtsman to prepare detailed working diagrams of machinery and mechanical devices, including dimensions, fastening methods, and other engineering information. The successful individual will work closely with project engineers, designers, drafters and office managers to develop mechanical designs from concept through to detailed drawings.

Requirements
• Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent qualification essential
• National Diploma in 3D Design / Industrial Design or similar qualification
• Minimum 2 years relevant experience
• Computer Literate with proven CAD experience (SolidWorks experience beneficial)
• Competencies Drawing Skills Beneficial
• Understanding of Manufacturing Processes
• Strong Analytical and Technical Skills
• Excellent Planning Abilities & Problem Solving skills
• Strong Communication Skills (Verbal and Written)
• Ability to work in a team as well as independently
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines

Duties
• Develop detailed fabrication drawings with specifications.
• Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems
• Review and analyse specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed
• Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
• Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to the materials
• Lay out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, and machine.
• Confer with customer representatives to review schematics and answer questions pertaining to installation of systems.
