UNIT (MECHANICAL) ENGINEER ( CRANES), WITBANK, RNEG

DEGREE MECHANICAL + MECHANICAL EXPERIENCE ON OVERHEAD CRANS + 5 YEARS EXP STEEL PLANT & SUPERVISOR ROLE + EXP CAPEC PROTOCOLS & PROJECT MANAGEMENT + EXP SAP.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Responsible for all overhead cranes, structures, lifelines and lifting equipment in the Steel Plant.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
•?To identify and action defects pro activelyin the Steel Plant.
•?Conduct VFL and maintain safetysystems.
•?Make use of the Near Hits report system.
•?Ensure availability targets are met.
•?Spares to be available at all times.
•?Efficient utilization of resources.
•?Investigate systems for improving plant
efficiency and safety.
•?Control and attend to system non
conformances.
•?Ensure LEAN working environment.
•?Maintain discipline in the PMD unit.
•?Ensure maintenance planning is done
effectively and liaise with operating units.
•?Draw up in depth SOW procedures for
items to be repaired.
•?Arrange Tender site meetings for defective
equipment.
•?Liaise with service providers to ensure
best quality and price.
•?Perform route cause failure analysis on
equipment.
•?Draw up Pareto charts for equipment, to
establish equipment with major delays.
•?Maintain ALL STP roof areas and lifelines.
•?Interpret structural audits and draw up
management plans (corrective actions).
•?Do annual segmentation for budgets.
•?Manage budget resources effectively.
•?Show continuous improvement in section
and division.
•?Self driven and accept accountability for
unit performance, outcomes and actions.
•?Must be able to schedule and execute
events.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:
•?Have in depth knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering.
•?Good knowledge of the steel plant equipment will be advantageous.
•?Knowledge of CLIENT’S SHEQ system.
•?Knowledge of CLIENT’’s disciplinary code and procedures.
•?Computer literacy (MS office) – graphs, tables, presentations.
•?Knowledge of SAP functionality.
•?Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
•?Must have a strong mechanical interest.

EXPERIENCE:
•?5 years experience in a supervisory role.
•?Mechanical experience on Overhead cranes will be advantageous.
•?Previous experience in the CAPEX protocols and project management.

QUALIFICATIONS:
•?National Diploma / B Tech / BSC or B Eng in an Engineering Mechanical field.

REPORTING STRUCTURE:
•?This position is directly responsible to the Engineering Manager.

PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES:
•?Must be able to obtain a satisfactory medical report from the company’s medical station (Red
ticket).
•?Must be confident and able to work under pressure.
•?Highly motivated and task orientated.
•?May be required from time to time to work additional hours. (i.e. overtime)
•?Standby duties.
•?Have own vehicle.
•?Be willing to work at heights, hot, noisy, dusty environment and confined spaces.
•?Be willing to act in higher positions whenever required.
