VACANCY: MECHANICAL ENGINEER
LOCATION: East Rand, Gauteng

SALARY: R40,000 – R50,000 (neg) TCC – depending on qualification and experience

DUTIES:

1. Assist with design of the layout of the plant
2. Generation of material take-offs for design studies and project costing purposes
3. Assessment of client specifications in all aspects of the design phase
4. Liason with the client and subcontractors
5. Execution of basic and detail design
6. Overseeing of vendor and subcontractor equipment design and fabrication
7. Mechanical design and detailing of equipment, heat exchanges & vessels
8. Assist with the drafting of contracts
9. Interfact and expediting between drawing office, mechanical design engineers, fabricators and quality control
10. Responsible for pipe stress analysis and pressure design
11. Management of the interactive flow of information between drawing office, mechanical design engineers and civil, structural and mechanical sub-contractors
12. Selection and design of piping supports
13. Assist with the procurement function
14. Manage the mechanical subcontractor and suppliers to meet deliverables
15. Site installation and commissioning support
16. Assist in drafting and checking of contracts
17. Responsible for Pipe Stresss Analysis and pressure vessel design
18. Selection and design of piping supports
19. Evaluation of subcontractor and equipment vendors proposals received – technical and commerical
20. Assist in drafting and piping /pipe supports modelling
21. Compilation and management of as-built documentation
22. Compilation and management of vendor and subcontractor databooks.
23. Compilation and management of plant technical and maintenance manuals
24. Site installation and commission assistance
25. Undertaking of small projects
26. Investigation and co-ordination of corrective measure that may arise on site during construction and warrantee period.

REQUIREMENTS:

a). BSC or B/TECH in mechanical engineering
b). 5 + years experience in a smiliar environment
c). Computer literate
d). Good communication and organisational skills

R40,000 to R50,000 (TCC) negotiable
