Summary
Our Company, a leader in the Trailer Manufacturing Industry requires the services of a Mechanical Engineer at our Factory Plant in Rosslyn, Pretoria. The ideal candidate for our purpose will have their main mission to render duties as an Mechanical / Industrial Engineer in the Main Production Plant focusing on production flow and process improvements in liaison with other departments.
Qualifications
Matric (essential)
Tertiary Qualification – Mechanical / Industrial Engineering B-Tech Degree (Essential)
Code 8 driver license (essential)
Computer Literacy in MS Office (essential)

At least three years proven experience within the trailer manufacturing, automotive and/or steel/engineering industry is required.

Duties
Apply sound Engineering techniques to improve operating performance and reduce wastage and delays.
Ensure high production and produce cost reductions and higher levels of efficiency.
Development of manufacturing methods to improve material handling.
Plan, co-ordinate and maintain all manufacturing information and systems.
Co-ordinate the movement of raw/finished products from point of origin to point of consumption.
Develop and implement quality control systems throughout the welding department.
Analyse and improve logistics within your department.
Develop most efficient ways to use people, machines, materials, information, and energy to make a product or service.
Optimise methods of organisation.
Perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes.
Design methods to ensure product quality.
Resolve production problems.
Evaluate accuracy of production and testing equipment.
Continuous Improvement regarding all aspects of production.
Assist with general duties as required from time to time.
Improve maintenance schedules and housekeeping in relevant sections.
Carry out production management.
Control duties by recording the movement of products through the production process against pre-planned schedules.
Identify production backlogs or short falls in quantities.
Solve problems or situations that the foreman of the department report using Industrial Engineering techniques.
Ensure that all work done in production area is on standard and adheres to quality standards.
Sound experience and understanding of quality management principles.
Understanding of welding processes.
Be responsible for improving the quality by designing gauges and jigs in his department.
Designing jigs to improve cycle time, setup time and loading times
Improve the tooling used to ensure longer tool life faster cycle times and better quality products. Planning and designing new production processes
Improving setup and cycle time at robots and milling and turning, by designing jigs
Designing and implementing cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety and reliability; Developing, testing and evaluating theoretical designs Discussing and solving complex problems with manufacturing departments Recommending modifications following prototype test results
Using research, analytical, conceptual and planning skills, particularly mathematical modelling and computer-aided design Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
