Short Description:

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent the successful candidate will have the responsibility to manage the mechanical maintenance and staff within the assigned section of the mine. He/ She will have to ensure that all the mechanical capital are maintained and improved within the given budget, ensuring legal and safety requirements.

Job Description:

Management of all relevant engineering activities, adhering to SANS standards in order to ensure the safe maintenance of machinery
Ensuring compliance to the Mine health & safety act, maintaining a no harm workplace through actively enforcing adherence to COPS, company policies and associated procedures to ensure safety
Address and investigate plant improvement opportunities
Performance of stand by duties and providing overtime support when required
Planning and managing the annual section budget
Managing the labour requirements & key performance areas within the department as well as ensuring effective productivity of staff
Conducting investigations to avoid failure within the section while maintaining a 91% plant reliability
Adopting best practises for housekeeping requirements to erect machinery
Ensuring optimal capability and availability if allocated company capital/assets
Planning & execution of tasks while managing shutdown through compliance requirements

Minimum Requirements:

Matric + Mechanical Trade Test
N Dip/Mechanical Engineering (highly advantageous)
5 yrs + exp within mining (preferred) or heavy industry
Supervisory experience required
Knowledge of machining, fitting, rigging and boilermaking procedures
Experience in conveyors, fans, bucket elevators, gearboxes and feeders essential
Computer literacy (Experience on JDE,CMMS highly advantageous)
Valid Driver’s license
