JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Mechanical Specialist is required to carry out pre commissioning and functional
testing of Mechanical and Piping equipment as directed by the Mechanical Lead.

JOB DUTIES:

Pre-commissioning checks of mechanical and Piping equipment
Functional testing checks on mechanical and piping systems and sub systems
Witness and/or verify all Mechanical / Piping system completion activities
performed by the Construction Contractor including approval of punch lists.
Plan and prepare all preparatory activities for completing M&P testing
Assist Vendor servicemen with their commissioning activities.
Preparation of mechanical commissioning work packs, drawings, procedures
Other Mechanical commissioning duties as defined by the commissioning
manager
Verify correct lubrication of mechanical equipment

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

BCOM Degree Possession of formal Mechanical and or Piping training and or Engineering
qualifications will be an advantage
Pro-active attitude towards quality and completion
Previous Commissioning experience on large construction projects
Previous experience with alignment and commissioning of large motors, pumps, fans,
air and hydraulic systems etc. will be an advantage

MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS:

Previous experience related to pre-commissioning and functional testing of mining
and or heavy industry mechanical and Piping equipment.
Must possess an Intermediate understanding of mechanical and Piping Drawings,
including ISOs, P&IDs, IOM’s and assembly drawings.
Must be able to proficiently complete inspection & test forms.
Good knowledge of Piping systems as well as rotating machinery.
Is expected to know how to operate Dial gauges, temperature guns etc.
English Proficiency
Must be willing to work overtime when needed.
Willingness and aptitude to comply with all site HSE policies and safe operating
procedures
