A dynamic and comprehensive HIV and TB treatment and care services, including HIV prevention and testing Organisation is currently looking for Medical Officers in the rural ares in the Eastern Cape to join this dynamic company.

These services of the NGO/Organisation includes antiretroviral medication, CD4 testing and lab monitoring, treatment for opportunistic infections, on-site pharmacy services, condom distribution and community outreach HIV testing services. The South African team is committed to providing high quality medical as well as social support for those who need it. All these services are provided free of charge.

We are looking for candidates in the following areas:
• Mnquma
• Mbashe.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assessment, initiation, treatment, care and follow up of patients on ART and TB as required
• Ensures that all patients access various diagnostics tests, analysis, and evaluation of medical procedures that promote good clinical outcomes in accordance with standard treatment guidelines
• Provide leadership in the clinical analysis of reports, test, examination
• Facilitates the referral of patients for specialized care and management
• Participates in setting up and ensuring that referral systems between the clinic and secondary and tertiary health levels is operational within the agreed context with the department of health
• Responsible for maintaining delivery of high quality, cost effective medical care and ensures efficiency of all services provided(in Primary Health Centres in and round Middledrift and Mbashe
• Conducts audits on deaths, dropouts and poor adherence to antiretroviral therapy and provide feedback to the clinical and M&E teams

Qualifications or Skills Required
• MBChB or equivalent from an accredited Medical University
• At least three years’ experience as a Medical Officer
• Sound Medical Ethics
• Knowledge of the National HIV/AIDS & TB Strategic Framework
• Experience in teaching and mentoring junior and other staff in the multidisciplinary team on HIV related matters
