Medical receptionist required for busy specialist practice. Working hours: 8-4 Mon to Fri. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Includes the following;
1. Receptionist that starts at 8am to do back-up, audit trail and c/c vouchers.
2. Check all files are present for the day’s appointments. Ensure all “person responsible
Forms are completed and up to date. Forms older than 1 year must be initialed by
members
3. Assure the readiness of the reception area for each working day; open the building at
the designated time and have all front desk activities fully operational at the start of
business hours.
4. Copy of appointment list to each doctor, ensures all lists are to be kept 100% up to date
during the course of the day whenever they change
5. Answers telephone quickly and efficiently, screens callers, relays messages – if call
taking too long interrupt politely and ask new caller to hold.
6. All questions from patients must be recorded in the message book. No medical advice
offered to a patient without consulting a doctor. Record all details and attach to patient
file . Go to one of the doctors, relay the question to him/her and go back to the patient
within your working day.
7. Filing is a component of each persons responsibilities.
8. Afternoon receptionist to do appointment sheets for each doctor for the following day
9. Collate and number Lancet results for doctor to check.
10. Greets all visitors
11. Schedules patients for procedures and consultations. If patient needs a Lung Function to
remember to update Jenny (Nursing Sisters) appointment book.
12. Relays information to patients regarding preparation and/or results for laboratory tests
13. Assists patients or family members with completion of chronic medication forms.
14. Collects and post charges, takes payments, issues receipts, record all payment
information on relevant doctor sheet.
15. Maintains calendar, schedules appointments and meeting rooms.
16. Maintain forms required for front desk activities.
17. Other duties may be assigned.
18. Warm outgoing personality, with the ability to interact effectively and in a supportive
manner with persons of all backgrounds.
19. Ability to work well under pressure.
21. Respect and maintain privacy and dignity of patients: assure patient confidentiality at
all times
7. Will be trained in the use of Vericlaim
