MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
Medically or medically related qualification
A Post-graduate qualification is a recommendation
3-5 years of work experience
Experience in the Pharma Industry would be preferable
Experience in immunology or vaccinology, microbiology (preferable)
Proven customer relations (preferable)
Valid driver’s license


KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Thorough working knowledge of current and likely future clinical therapeutic practice as well as developments in the healthcare system
Good understanding of the commercial implications of the business
Strong business acumen
Strong working knowledge of relevant diseases and products
Be able to understand and apply medical terminology
Advanced computer skills especially in Word, Excel, Power point, medical searches, report writing, using e tracking systems etc
Excellent verbal and written communication, including presentation skills
Champion the development, acquisition and implementation of innovative ideas technologies, etc.
Understands customer and market trends, identifying and making recommendations
Works as part of a team, respecting the opinions, needs and contributions of others.
Able to build relationships across departments and functions
Listens and considers other’s points of view with an open mind
Demonstrates a high level of energy, drive and personal responsibility to achieve individual goals
Support local and corporate business objectives by active teamwork and interaction with internal colleagues and external contacts with specific focus on vaccines
May be responsible for implementation of certain programmes eg epidemiology, PSPs etc.
Responsible for all scientific related communication, KOL management, disease/ product related medical inquiries with support, guidance and co-operation with medical and marketing colleagues.
Provide Medico-Marketing support by leveraging and developing both internal and external KOL contacts and by actively keeping abreast of the latest developments in vaccines and proactively implementing and sharing this knowledge to shape, support and promote the best management for patients
Develop and foster excellent relationships with KOLs through co-participation in meetings, presentations, attendance at conferences and other meetings by proactively developing and fostering these relationships in all contacts and settings
Leverage KOL relationships to increase the understanding of the latest health and vaccine trends in Africa and have clinical discussions with KOLs regarding vaccine products as required
Act as backup for medical information for the product portfolio to ensure efficient and effective answers to queries, providing sales and marketing support without compromising medical ethical considerations, in line with an MSL role
Consider policy support by eg looking into different possible reimbursement pathways for vaccine products, understanding data, generating data etc
