Medical Technologist Chemistry

SM Healthcare Placements is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals for the position of Medical Technologist - Chemistry in Durban, Kwazulu Natal for an exciting role within a Clinical Laboratory Organisation in the medical field.

Primary responsibility is the implementation of the section's objectives, quality control, and communication. Familiarity with concepts, theories, and procedures of a clinical microbiology laboratory including microorganisms, their habitats, and their significance in clinical specimens. Clinical Laboratory Technologists will also perform duties of Charge Technologists when called upon.

The following are the qualifications, experience, knowledge and attributes requirements:

Education, Training and Experience

• B.S. or B.A. degree in Medical Technology or related discipline (Chemical Pathology / Clinical Pathology)
• Qualified as Medical Technician
• Registered with HPCSA as a Medical Technician
• Post qualification experience
• 2 years working experience as Medical Technologist within a Clinical / Chemical pathology environment
• Knowledge of instrumentation and methodologies.
• Knowledge of Quality Control
• Knowledge of the Meditech system

Key performance areas

• Process routine bench work in laboratory in order to ensure efficient processing of specimens
• Assist with training, Quality control and Accreditation tasks in order to ensure that the goals of the department are achieved
• Maintain good client relations to promote the image of the company
• Perform administration tasks in order to ensure effective administration systems in the laboratory.
