Microsoft Server and Desktop Administrator

Compuscan is looking for a Microsoft Server and Desktop Administrator to assist in the maintenance and support of their server and desktop infrastructure.

As a Windows Server & Desktop Administrator you will represent the company by being responsible, punctual and motivated to support the client’s needs. This role entails a detail-oriented and organized professional with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities as well as the ability to display excellent customer service, written communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Requirements:

• 5 years Active Directory/Windows server 2003, 2008/2012 administration experience
• Desktop virtualisation (VM Ware)
• 5 years Technical experience with one of the following certifications: Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), CompTIA A+ or equivalent


Key Competencies:

• Administering servers, backup operations, and systems monitoring in multiple and network server environments
• Server & Desktop upgrades, O/S and firmware patching with or without using WSUS
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook on Hosted Exchange
• Troubleshooting and diagnostic skills and provide support to Operations and Admin personnel
• Ability to prioritize multiple assigned tasks and execute parallel tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Working knowledge of network equipment such as switches, routers, hubs, and associated equipment
• Working knowledge of VOIP Telephony (Mitel Based systems preferred.)
• Develop effective working relationships with suppliers, co-workers and management
• Ability to interface with administrators and technical staff in order to discuss technical issues pertaining to problems, purchases or technical specifications
• Strong written and communication skills
• Analyses and resolves end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion.
• Must be able to perform duties with minimum supervision, and participate in cross-functional projects as scheduled

Key Performance Areas:

• The MS Server & Desktop Administrator is responsible for the operation, maintenance and support of the Microsoft servers and desktops located across multiple locations
• Supports daily operations including AD management, troubleshooting, capacity management, patching, upgrades and performance monitoring/tuning
• Composes clear and concise system documentation and reports
• Provide superior customer service for help desk ticket resolution – both remote and desk side, including the support of mobile users
• This includes but are not limited to Email, Internet Proxy, VOIP, Anti Virus
• Microsoft Windows Desktop hardware and software installs, configuration, troubleshooting.
• Data Encryption
• Printer configuration and problem resolution – local and network printers
• Procurement of IT Related equipment and software
• Infrastructure
o CCTV
o UPS and Generators
o Netbotz Environmental Monitoring
o Biometric Time and Attendance System.
o Wireless Connectivity
