Our client, a leading Diamond Mining Group is looking for an experienced and qualified Mine Engineer (Shafts) at their joint venture facility in Kimberley in the Northern Cape Province.

Kimberley Ekapa Mining JV (KEM-JV) is a joint venture between Ekapa Minerals (Pty) Ltd, Super Stone Mining (Pty) Ltd and Crown
Resources (Pty) Ltd (Petra Diamonds) and is situated in the City of Kimberley in the Northern Cape.

Job Grade: D4

Job Description:
Co-ordinate the maintenance activities of a section to ensure optimum availability at the lowest cost according to
operational requirements or organisational objectives and sound engineering practice.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
Analyse and interpret maintenance trends/variances and initiate change
Assess areas of maintenance where outsourcing or partnerships would be appropriate and make recommendations
Ensure compliance to Mine health and safety regulations, engineering standards and specifications
Execute discipline design (systems, equipment and products) through to documentation and data pack management
Implement maintenance systems to comply with business requirements
Manage engineering contractor activities
Plan and co-ordinate major shut-downs with internal and external clients to ensure the timeous allocation of resources
Prepare short, medium and long term maintenance plans to meet business objectives
Provide effective engineering analysis services

Responsible for:
Availability of equipment to meet planning production parameters
Effective operation of maintenance and related processes
Complying with legal appointment requirements (Section 2.13.1) as stipulated in the Mine Health and Safety Act
Ensuring proper infrastructure
Performing optimisation studies
Performing project management activities

Minimum Requirements:
B Degree Electrical or Mechanical Engineering OR
National Diploma in Electrical (Heavy Current) or Mechanical OR
N6 Electrician or Mechanical – together with relevant Trade Test
DMR Government Certificate of Competency Mines and Works (Electrical or Mechanical)
Minimum 4 years Mine Shaft legal appointment experience essential – please indicate clearly on CV
Intermediate Computer Literacy
Valid drivers’ license

Advantageous:
Professional Registration with ECSA
Registered member of an Engineering Body (e.g. AMRE)
