Job Summary
Job Description:
The position reports to the Drill & Blast Engineer and will provide timely and professional technical support to the sublevel cave drill and blast section to ensure safe and optimised extraction of the ore body.
The role will also provide technical support including planning, design, scheduling, extraction sequencing, modelling, analysis, process improvement, reconciliation and reporting.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Planning, extraction sequencing, design and scheduling of sublevel cave ring drilling and blasting – utilising tools such as GEMCOM, Microstation and blast design software
Monitor and react to control the fragmentation and waste dilution within acceptable limits
Ring drilling, timing and blasting performance modelling, in-situ performance assessment and adjustment according to local and global cave and tunnel conditions in consultation with the Geotechnical Engineer
Implement and manage control systems to ensure drilling, timing and blasting
Drill and blast cost planning as well as reconciliation, monitoring and improvement of cost
Participate in compiling the Strategic Business Plan for the Mine
Manage Drill and Blast database
Maintain and improve safe work practices Minimum Requirements:
Recognised B Tech / BSc, B Eng Degree or National Higher Diploma in Mining Engineering
Mine Overseers or Mine Managers Certificate of Competency (Metalliferous Mining)
At least seven (7) years’ *underground mining experience in mass mining*(please clearly indicate on CV)
Three (3) year’s underground mining experience in a supervisory capacity
Valid driver’s license
Competent in MS Office Suite
Working knowledge of _specialist Drill and Blast design software will be an advantage_(please clearly indicate on CV)
Competent in _GEMCOM/PCSLC/Ring design or Mine 24D_(please clearly indicate on CV)
