Job Description:
Mine Overseer
Underground mining / Block cave mining
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Mining Manager, the incumbent will be required to oversee the mining aspects and activities
of Sub Level Caving work in the Mining Production Department.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Interact with all mining disciplines
Drive production and maintenance
Monitor project schedules and resource allocations
Ensure maintenance management system is in place
Develop and maintain a document management system to ensure efficient storage and access of information
Work according to the Mine’s Code of Practice and report deviations
Assess the quality or work performed by Contractors
Ensure adherence and compliance to Safety, Health and Environmental processes

Minimum Requirements:

Permanent Blasting Certificate for Scheduled Mines
Mine Overseers Certificate of Competency
Code EB Driver’s License
At least five years’ underground mining experience
Computer literate
Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (Metalliferous Mines) will be an added advantage
Block cave mining/Sub level caving experience
COM Certificate Strata Control – an advantage
Managerial/supervisory experience
Technical design and analysis
Technical knowledge of mining operations
Planning, coordinating and prioritising
Analysing and interpretation of information
Applicable legal knowledge and understanding
Decision making ability in a fast-changing environment
