MIS SPECIALIST (MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS SPECIALIST)

Overview:
Plan, direct, or coordinate activities in such fields as electronic data processing, information systems, systems analysis, and computer programming. Previous experience in the financial services industry essential, short-term insurance industry experience will be a great advantage.

Location: Centurion, Gauteng
Salary: R40 000 to Max R45 000 per month

Qualification - Minimum Requirements:
A post-matric qualification (e.g. a bachelor’s degree) majoring in subjects related to information technology;
Evidence of training in Microsoft SQL Server, e.g. certification.

Preferably the following qualifications in addition to the above-mentioned:
Certificates and/ or diplomas related to financial services and preferably short-term insurance;
Training in statistics and/ or accounting.

MS Office, Excel Macros, SQL and Visual Basic
Programming and maintenance of SQL database, create files, reposts and database. Check outputs and reconcile with accounting department. Work alternating Sundays and overtime. Experience ins STI environment essential.

Requited knowledge and experience:
MINIMUM TWO years working experience with reporting from SQL Server.
MINIMUM TWO years working experience in the financial services industry.
Preferably at least two years exposure to the short-term insurance industry.
Hands-on involvement in a financial transaction processing system and/or reporting system.
Software development life cycle models.
Technology environments.
Above-average knowledge of Excel, including macros essential.
Strong appreciation of information security concepts.
Database administration.
Work with databases and exposure to Business Intelligence tools.
Some programming experience, e.g. in the Microsoft Visual Studio framework.
