Project Empower is a registered non-profit organisation established in 2001 based in the province of KwaZulu Natal at the Diakonia Centre in Durban. Initially established to strengthen HIV community HIV prevention responses, Project Empower has been building the capacity of women in communities to address the joint drivers of both violence against women (VAW) and HIV for over ten years.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Knowledge Management Intern
Effective with the release of this position announcement, Project Empower is recruiting applicants for the position of Program Monitoring and Evaluation Intern and Knowledge Management Intern. The responsibilities, duties, and qualifications are described below.

RENUMERATION:
Interns will be given a stipend of R6500.00 per month per intern.

POSITION TITLE:
Monitoring and Evaluation Intern
Knowledge Management Intern

LOCATION:
Durban, KwaZulu Natal

REPORTS TO:
Monitoring, Evaluation and Knowledge Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:
The position is a six (6) month position. The position requires an energetic, detail oriented technologically competent individuals who can contribute to tasks related to monitoring, evaluation and knowledge management.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tasks include but are not limited to:

Monitoring and Evaluation
• Assist in the management of the M&E collaboration site to share tools and best practices amongst organisational staff.
• Assist in the development and revision of tools for data collection, work with projects to adapt tools to ensure proper data disaggregation.
• Assist in creation of data collection training and guidance material.
• Assist with program data input.
• Assist in data analysis as needed.
• Other research and/or operational assistance, as needed and available.
• Provide administrative support to M&E department.
• Support in the review and checking of QI data generated being in line with the M&E reporting requirements. Support the analysis of data in line with the M&E framework.
• Participate in the training of DREAMS staff in monitoring of activities based on indicators and targets set out in the PMP.
• Work closely with the M&E department assist where necessary.

Knowledge Management
• Copy-edit communications and KM materials submitted for review by field staff and make recommendations on formatting and branding.
• Conduct regular reviews of project documentation plans and communication pipelines and follow up on pending and passed deadlines.
• Work with Monitoring, Evaluation and Knowledge Manager to synthesize/repackage existing content into new and accessible formats.
• Assist in the management of the organisation website.
• Assist in the collection of project updates to share within the division and across the company.
• Uploading the documents and documentation to the firm’s databases and knowledge management systems.
• Work closely with the M&E department assist where necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND

EDUCATION:
Hold a relevant degree (Development Studies, Monitoring and Evaluation, Demography and Population Studies etc.)

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Exceptional writing and communications skills required.
• Strong analytical and research skills.
• Ability to demonstrate the highest level of ethical standards at all times.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, ability to think critically and work independently are a must.
• Proficiency in institutional supported software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint) a must.
