Location: Boland, Western Cape

Description: A chocolate factory is seeking a young and vibrant food technologist to join their team. Due to the size of the facility the position stretches over several disciplines. The company is looking for a candidate that is willing to learn and grow with the company. The key responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to assist the chocolate maker with his duties; chocolate making in its entirety including roasting, winnowing, grinding, refining, conching, tempering and moulding of the chocolate bars; production planning, scheduling and management; maintaining the FSSC 22000 food safety system and all related areas; maintaining the UTZ certification system; new product development; quality control at the variouss stages of production (sensory and instrumental); raw material ordering and maintenance.

Key Requirements: BSc Food Science / B Tech Food Technology; driver’s license and own transport essential; must love chocolate; must have a practical hands-on approach.

Additional Requirements: Excellent communication skills; time management skills, able to work within a team and independently; good presentation skills. Please note that working hours require the successful candidate to work every second weekend, and when required. The position is production orientated and ad hoc after hours work is required.

Remuneration: Market related.

Starting date: As soon as possible.
