We looking for a person that will be responsible for implementing Companies Corporate QSHE, Security measures and Company’s Quality systems and guidelines. The National QSHE Manager will be the business partner to the Managing Director and for the peers/ business unit management in the National Leadership Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating the vision and structure for the country, executing QSHE program, setting QSHE national goals, recommending organisational changes to achieve the set goals and will take full responsibility on the processing of Pharma-related activities in line with legislation.

Your tasks and responsibilities

• Contribute to executive policy and regional strategy on all QSHE matters.
• Assist in Providing sustainable competitive advantage and add value to the campany and its customers.
• Establishing continuous improvement on processes company-wide.
• Providing managers with QSHE related Key Performance Indicators to support decision on process.
• Promoting business excellence culture for Quality, Safety & Health, Environment and Security.
• Liaising with managers from all business and functional units throughout the organization to ensure that the QSHE + Security systems are properly implemented.
• Liaising with external parties on matters relating to QSHE + Security where necessary, i.e. with customers, authorities, certification bodies and suppliers.
• Ensuring business driven efficient network of company’s national QSHE community.
• Building the organizational capability and vitality of the regional QSHE team.
• Developing, implementing and maintaining systems to measure performance against established standards (i.e. QAT – Quality Audit Tool, TIP Tool etc.).
• Implementing the corporate Safety Policy and QSHE Manual at the National levels.
• Monitoring performance in relevant areas according to agreed standards and take necessary action to communicate/advise/assist according to performance levels.
• Reporting as necessary on changes in standards and on performance against standards.
• Driving continuous improvement through benchmarking and leveraging of regional best practices to ensure national QSHE system is world class.
• Ensuring adequate knowledge transfer and development for all QSHE staff.
• Maintaining close working relationship with Business and Functional Units
• Develop standards and tools to facilitate implementation of specific standards and processes nationally or locally.
• Coordinating activities with certification bodies to ensure proper coverage and certification of requested standards
• Supporting, implementing and documenting harmonised procedures, systems and metrics aiming at the continuous improvement of the overall QSHE + Security System and related processes
• Applying QSHE programs in order to ensure continuous improvement process in all business areas in-liaise with regional BUs and FUs
• Determining and enforcing QSHE standards and requirements in accordance with real company needs.
• Identifying, implementing, and monitoring of compliance to all applicable quality and service standards outlined above.
• The National QHSE Manager will have the authority and resources needed to carry out assigned duties of setting up and maintaining the Quality Management System, as well as identify and correct deviations from the established quality system.
• The National QHSE Manager will be the point of contact with the Health authorities such as Ministry of Health, Municipality, etc. to get applicable rules and regulations. Responsible to maintain updated version of legislations in company’s database.
• Ensuring all Quality sections of GXP procedures are updated and only latest version are available in company’s centralised document control platform.
• Conducting regular internal audits from other business units to review the status of GXP compliance
• Reviewing and approving all ‘Change requests’ to ensure Quality aspects are considered
• Reviewing and approving all pharma subcontractors selection.
• Conducting regular audits of key subcontractors such as transport hauliers to ensure compliance with Company’s guidelines.
• Taking action on all deviations coming to his/her attention in timely manner and with necessary care
• Responsible for monitoring temperature and humidity records on defined intervals and act on alarms as per escalation matrix
• The National QSHE Manager is expected to stay up-to-date on all regulatory and Quality management changes by having required trainings and making sure those changes are updated in company documents
• Providing GXP standard trainings to Company’s South Africa staff and subcontractors.
Your skills and experience
• A degree in Health and Safety, or related field is essential.
• Professional affiliation/certification will be a distinct advantage.
• Minimum 5 year experience in an Heath Safety (QSHE) environment, of which 3 years must be in an management role.
• Minimum 5 years working experience in Freight Forwarding will be a distinct advantage.
• Minimum of 2 - 5 years project management, leadership and international experience is required.
• Experience in managing and developing a QSHE team is required.
• Experience in setting-up or re-positioning the QSHE function advantageous.
• Knowledge of local market, requirements, laws and regulations is essential i.e. LRA,EE,HSE etc.
• Ability to build a trust relationship across all levels of the organization.
• knowledge of ISO9001/2015,ISO 14001 and ISO18001is essential.
• Ability to deal with conflicting requests and opinions from different stakeholders.
• Ability to communicate positively and credibly to all audience with a good command of English and other languages will be preferred.
• Willingness to travel internationally and locally.
