Purpose of position

Leading Telecommunications company needs a Network Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will be passionate about technology and enjoy a position that exposes them to a variety of networking and software technologies deployed at scale in the real-world, and which will require and reinforce a deep understanding of TCP/IP networking.

Skills and Competencies

• Responsible for designing and delivering tailored networking solutions to customers.
• Solutions involve both traditional service-provider MPLS network capabilities as well as the use of mass-market and SOHO routers and embedded networking devices.
• Must have a deep understanding of TCP/IP networking
• Ability to understand and assess requirements, and design corresponding technical solution
• Ability to perform hands-on prototyping, implementation and testing of designed solutions
• Ability to research and test new networking technologies and capabilities
• Must be familiar with Telco/Service Provider MPLS network technologies
• Have an awareness of network security issues
• Experience with OpenWRT and/or Mikrotik would be highly advantageous
• Experience with Cellular or Wireless technology would be advantageous
• Ability to lead and drive technical projects
• Ability to document complex systems
• A passion for networking and ISP technologies

General requirements
:
Able to interface to suppliers and able to communicate with non-technical people.

The suitable candidate must be independent, self-reliant, enthusiastic and resourceful with the ability to take ownership for and solve technical problems.

Minimum Experience:

• Cisco® or other networking certification would be an advantage.
