Position: Nurse 1/2 – NGO – DM Location: Tzaneen Duration: Permanent Type of Business: Medical / NGO Remuneration: Negotiable Requirements: To work in a research environment at the cutting edge of HIV/AIDS work in South Africa and is involved with coordinating patient care and data collection during the clinical trial. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Assisting in the recruitment and keep attendance register. • Actively participate as part of the team in the provision of informed consent, screening, enrolling, household follow-up visits. • Follow-up clients who fail to attend their study visit • Ensure that study procedures, documents and data flow are managed according to the protocol, SSPs an PHRU SOPs. • Set-up / maintain client source documents and completion of CRF. • Symptom screening and collecting sputum from clients. • Ensure that blood specimens are taken to the laboratory timeously. • Ensure laboratory kits are always available on site. • Ensure that laboratory results are attended to and signed by the medical officer. • Prepare for the monitor visits. • Assist when necessary in education and adherence support. • Assist or take on any other duties as deemed appropriate for the study / PHRU • Schedule clients visits, EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE • Experience in working in HIV/AIDS environment • Registered as a professional nurse with the South African Nursing Council • Knowledge of the research process and previous experience in Research • Empathy and understanding of people living with HIV/AIDS • Computer literacy or willingness to learn is essential • Ability to work independently and be part of a multidisciplinary team • Friendly and able to engage people and ability to communicate in local languages • Valid South African driver’s license • Experience with the National TB programme and with HIV testing • Ability to work within a team and maintain good working relations among project staff • Willingness to learn
