Midrand, Johannesburg

In addition to fulfilling a day to day case management function in the Assistance and Response
Centres, the Nurse Manager is responsible for the functional line management of the nursing
team in the Assistance and Response Centres including, but not limited to, client and case
allocation, case quality assurance, formal and informal performance assessment, training and
development and support and mentoring of team members.

This role is accountable for actively driving medical cases and medical KPI management. In
conjunction with the Medical Director, the Nurse Manager is responsible for the identification of
the staffing needs in the nursing team, recruitment as well as the day to day leadership of the
nursing team.

This role is active in developing relationships with individual clients over and above case
escalation, which includes participation in conference calls and report generation

• Medical Assistance & Response Centre Responsibilities
• Medical due diligence, medical related tasks and case direction with respect to designated medical cases.

Required Work Experience
• At least 5 years post qualification working experience of which a minimum of 2 years management/supervisory role essential
• Demonstrated understanding of working within a general Customer Service environment, with an approach that is focused on quality
• Experience within a call centre environment preferable.
• Prior experience as a coordinating nurse is preferable
• Trauma / ICU exposure essential
• Experience in Occupational Health, Work Place Health, or Maritime medical assistance preferred
Required Qualifications
• Tertiary Nursing qualification
• Membership to the SANC
• A demonstration of completed or pursued Continuous Professional Development, such as but not limited to a post-graduate degree, diploma or relevant courses.
• Occupational Health qualification advantageous
Skills/Knowledge
• Evidence of people management/supervision
• Literate and proficient in the usage of contemporary computer software
• Proficient typing and data capturing skills with a minimum accuracy of 95% and speed of 30 wpm.
• A clear and confident phone manner, with excellent written and spoken English skills.
• Solid understanding of leadership with demonstration of project work and completion of same.
• Able to work under pressure and deliver results to deadlines
• Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA and IADC guidelines
• Understanding of the Jones act
• Knowledge / experience within the commercial maritime industry (preferred)
• Geographical awareness and cultural sensitivity
Required languages
• Excellent written and spoken English
